  • Candice C. Robinson is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Her areas of expertise include race and ethnicity, social movements, Black middle class, civic engagement and mixed methods. Her research is motivated by a commitment to understanding the contributions of the Black middle class to American society. Building on a five-year ethnography, she is writing a book on the National Urban League and their auxiliary’s role in supporting social change.
