  • Imari Z. Smith is a doctoral candidate in Duke University’s joint program in public policy and sociology. Her work centers health disparities, intersectionality and discrimination over the life course. Her dissertation seeks to understand how people interpret and respond to discrimination, and the implications of those factors on health. Grounding her analysis via an intersectional framework, she examines the extent to which these relationships vary by concurrent race and gender identity.
